gift for my wife who likes soy milk and liked the taste. Works well and is easy to use. Makes soy milk in under 20 minutes. Cleanup is fairly easy but heed manufacturer's advice and rinse/clean grinder blade and heating elements right after you make the milk or else the soy residue will harden. Noticed that I had to adjust/rotate the top several times to get the power switch to engage. Perhaps we threw in too many soybeans. Overall we are happy with the machine. Luckily dry soy beans are available from local Korean grocery stores.

I did some research online and read people's review then decided to buy this soy milk machine. I know all the time that soy is very good to people's health especially for women so I had great expectation that this thing would work out. I ordered online from their own website and got it after 1 week. It was much bigger that I had imagined. Back in China, my mom used to use a handy soymaker. Anyway, I used it 3 times and it was good. Just that the soymilk didn't taste as fully cooked. Also washing the machine is a bit complicated since the head (where the electric parts are)is undetachable from the grinding part. So you need to hold the heavy head when washing the grinding part. You need to be very careful not to splash water onto the head. It's a bit tricky.
At the 4th usage, it only heated up without grinding at all so we pretty much harvest whole boiled beans. I called the company to fix it but they said I have to pay the mailing. Even though I found online that they have a retailer in my city but they insisted that I mail it back. Also if I still decide to return it later after fixing it, the 30 day warranty won't be extended. It still starts from the date of purchase, not from the date after you fix it. So I decided to return it for refund anyway. I paid $20+ for the mailing.
Another thing I found out about the manual is that, there is inconsitency among different language versions. One version says "push the grind button 3 times", the other versions says "push the grind button 4 times". I don't know which one to follow.
It's quite a lesson to learn. Well, I'll have to look for my soy machine again. I didn't the machine from Amazon so I wouldn't know if the experience would be different if I did.

This is a follow up of my previous review for this soymilk maker. I returned the machine and wrote the review here in February. The supervisor of the customer service called me after he saw the online review. He said according to their policy, in case the machine is broken, they should pay for the shipping. The lady who handled my case has worked there for 1+ year but was oblivious of this policy. He also offered to give me a completely new machine with 2 year warranty as a compliment. Well, I tried the new machine out and it is working good. Now I've got the refund for the previous machine as well as the $20 shipping. I guess I should give them a second chance of proving themselves.

"I LOVE my new SoyQuick Premier Milk Make 930P!! The name "SOYQUICK" says it all. This machine is quick and wow, the milk is delicious. It does not compare to the commercial milk I was buying. I am blown away and highly recommend it!! My Kids love the nut milk that I make for them for hot chocolate and I use the soymilk in their cereal for breakfast. I am really happy to be able to make so many different types of healthy milks. One of the extra pluses for me is that I have made a "Green" choice by not having to buy tetra-pak milk anymore. For our family this appliance was a perfect fit."

NEW Soymilk Maker - SoyQuick Premier Milk Maker 930P Review

NEW Soymilk Maker - SoyQuick Premier Milk Maker 930P

Though I've made nut milks by hand for years, I've never had a soy milk maker before so I have no comparison with using other home milk makers. I have however been drinking commercial soy milk since before the major companies figured out the 180 degree process and got rid of the bitter flavor - so I know what soy milk tastes like when that's done wrong! Urk!
I can say for sure that the 930P does what it should - keeps the soy beans at 180 degrees F for the whole grinding and cooking process. It's easy to set up, a snap to clean (truly takes 2 minutes) and is totally simple to use. It makes soy, rice, nut and mungbean milks perfectly. The soy milk tastes clean and fresh - and like soy beans :D
So many people seem to get a soy milk maker and want the soy milk to taste like what you drink in the store. For that, you have to add what they add to commercial milk: sugar, salt, vanilla, calcium, vitamins A and D, carrageen/guar gum and various other possibilities. I like the straight soy milk, but my kids want something more familiar and I wanted soymilk that I could use as creamer in my tea, so I've been working with various recipes to get as close to their familiar Soy Dream as possible.
My closest attempt so far:
*1/2 cup soy beans, soaked over night and de-skinned (crush and rub the soybeans, the skins will collect in the water above the beans to remove)
*1/3 cup of millet (this does 2 things - gives that thicker creamier feel and a light sweet taste)
Put these in the Soy Quick and make milk according to the Soymilk setting. When done, strain through the strainer and then strain again through a permanent coffee filter (I really do recommend this second straining - the wire mesh included strainer is great, but anyone used to commercial soymilk expects absolutely no particulate. It's an extra 5 bucks and well worth it.). Now add:
*1/4 cup of brown sugar (we like brown, it may be way too strong for others though)
*1/2 tsp of salt
*1/2 tsp vanilla
*(calcium carbonate if you want it - provides calcium, but also gives that heavy creamy after-taste you are familiar with from commercial soy milk)
Stir and let cool. Refrigerate in an air-tight container.
I want to try barley malt as sweetener - I think it would give an even better flavor than brown sugar for the kids :)
I have also made mung bean milk (a nice addition to other milks at about a 1:3 ratio - it has good medicinal qualities), hazelnut milk and almond milk. They all turn out great! I particularly like hazelnut milk and think it makes great smoothies. I would love to try ice cream made from hazelnut milk!
A word to the wise - almond milk is probably the easiest transition for anyone who is used to commercial milks. You don't have to add much of anything to get it tasting like something familiar :)
