(More customer reviews)I wrote a review of our new Cuisinart DCC-1200W under that product. In that review, I mentioned that we also bought a DeLonghi for our RV about the same time. This is the model DeLonghi we bought at the local Target.
This coffee maker, quite simply, is better designed and made a better cup of coffee than the Cuisinart right out of the box. The Cuisinart here on Amazon is about twice the price of the DeLonghi.
If you're in the market for a new coffee pot and you read all the glowing reviews of the Cuisinart here on Amazon, I urge you to consider this pot instead.

(More customer reviews)I've had my DeLonghi Esclusivo coffeemaker for exactly 3 months. It brewed the best tasting coffee I've ever had. It was my favorite coffee maker by far for the following reasons: Coffee is delicious -slow brewing permits a more robust coffee. Small footprint on my counter. Stylish design. VERY easy to program and use. Large opening through which to pour water. Charcoal filter to purify water. Automatic shut off. Caraffe has large opening for easy cleaning. NON-DRIP POURING!! I was in heaven with this coffeemaker and knew I'd found the perfect one. (I've had many in my lifetime.)
Unfortunately, two days ago, the plastic surrounding the hot plate began to melt. The vendor from whom I purchased it has already refunded my money and has asked me to return it. I will NOT purchase another one for fear of fire hazard. This coffeemaker would have received 10 stars from me had it not begun to melt itself to death. For this reason, I'm heartsick.....it WAS the perfect coffeemaker.

(More customer reviews)I was sure that because this was a Cuisinart product that it would be a great coffee pot, but I am not happy with it because every time I pour myself a cup, no matter how careful I am, it drips everywhere, and my counters end up covered in coffee. This has been true since the day I got it. If it wasn't for that one incredibly fatal flaw, I'd love this pot. The other feature that I've had in other coffee pots, that I miss in this one, is a removable reservoir. Not a deal breaker, but it sure would make me like this coffee pot a lot more.
I do, however, LOVE the stainless steel. Not only is it easier to keep clean, it's nice that it doesn't look dirty if it DOES need to be cleaned. I will agree that the 30 minute shut off is a little too short, but I personally am just happy that it has that feature at all, so I won't complain too much about that.
This product is OK--- if you like cleaning your counter tops.
As an additional note- I purchased this product new, not factory reconditioned.

(More customer reviews)My husband and I have been using this coffee maker for over a year and a half and we love it!! We mostly use fresh coffee beans, so we use the coffee grinder feature a lot. When we cleaned it for the first time, it was easy to do and watch along with the 'How-To' DVD. If we had to list one complaint it would be that when you get to the bottom of the carafe and need to pour the coffee out, you literally have to turn the carafe upside down (twisting your arm a little). We don't think that this is a major drawback because on the flip side, this carafe keeps your coffee piping hot for hours!! We highly recommend this coffee maker to those that love freshly ground/brewed coffee. It's worth the investment!

(More customer reviews)I did extensive research on this type of grinder/brewer. Numerous customer reviews indicated problems with the grinder noise, coffee strength, and clogging. I would like to comment on all three items, as I have found solutions for all three. First the grinder noise; Yes, it's true it is loud and sounds like it's going to take off when grinding beans! There is no easy solution to this, so I set the timer and use it as an alarm clock! Second, is coffee strength. The type of filter used can cause a weaker or stronger tasting coffee. If you use a paper filter the water strains through more slowly and gives you a stronger tasting cup of Joe! If you use a gold, mesh filter, turn on the 1-4 cup option. It seems to delay the drip rate and makes a strong cup. Also filling the beans full and packing them in helps. Finally, the most written about issue with this type of grind/brew maker, the clogging of the coffee chute. Once the coffee has been ground, the ground coffee is deposited in the filter and brewed. During this process, moisture accumulates in the grinding area. As the instructions indicate, YOU NEED TO CLEAN THE COFFEE MAKER DAILY!!! It's that simple, I know it's hard, taking the five pieces and rinsing them in the sink, drying then and then re-installing! Give it a try it really works!
I bought this machine refurbished and found it to make a great cup oif coffee. It's not magic, it needs daily cleaning and a little tweeking.

(More customer reviews)Frankly, I'm a little surprised at the wide range of reviews here for this coffeemaker.
Yes, the coffeemaker does have to be cleaned after every brewing. No, it doesn't make bad coffee. No, you can't just dump coffee beans or ground coffee into the coffeemaker and make good coffee automatically.
The Coffee Bar, as Cuisinart likes to call it, does have several internal parts which must all be in place before you can brew coffee. You can use ground coffee, but you're defeating the purpose of the Coffee Bar by doing so. The grinder compartment can hold enough beans to make 10 strong 6-oz cups of coffee which is what "10-cup" usually means with appliances. I like my coffee very strong and I've been able to load more than enough beans into the coffeemaker to get the strength of coffee I want.
Between the grinder and the attached drain basket is an attached screen through which the ground beans goes through and an inserted gold basket filter which must be in place in order to make coffee. On top of all of this is a cover which fits over the basket into which hot water is pumped up over the grounds and then drips down into your fresh grounds.
On this cover, there is a dial setting which you must set each and ever time depending on the amount (and what I've discovered -- strength) of the coffee you want to have. Finally, this entire assembly is covered by a lid attached to the rear of the coffeemaker and latches in front.
The entire internal assembly MUST be cleaned after each and every brewing. So, yes, if you make multiple pots, you need to clean it each time. (However, is this any different than any other coffee appliance?)
There are additional settings on the front of the coffeemaker that also affect the quality of the coffee; so, basically, the coffeemaker is NOT intuitive and you have to read the instruction manual before you start brewing coffee with this appliance.
All of that said, this coffeemaker makes EXCELLENT coffee. I own two of them, because I originally purchased the version in white, because it was all that was available. When the version in black became available, I bought a second one. Both are still in excellent working condition and I haven't had any problem with either.
The Cuisinart Coffee Bar is a little pricey, but it does make great coffee and I heartily recommend it.

Cuisinart DCC-2200 Brew Central 14-Cup Coffeemaker Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this coffee maker after too many days of being the family's late riser and finding the coffee pot already drained. I have been using this pot for a couple of months now, and I am more than pleased with my purchase. This pot does hold more than the standard 10- or 12-cup coffeemaker, a great feature in a family of coffee-drinkers.
I had hoped to find a coffee-maker with a removable water reservoir to carry back and forth to the sink, which this model does not have, but even so, I give this model five stars for the excellent coffee it makes. While I have to lift the coffee-maker down from the shelf on which I keep it in order to fill the reservoir, its internal clock remains accurate even when unplugged for the short while it takes to fill the reservoir.
Some folks here have complained about the beep signaling that the element is being turned off. Even after several cups of coffee, my nerves aren't so high-strung that I even give the sound a second thought. It's quite innocuous, IMHO.
Perhaps owing to the water filter, this pot makes excellent rich-tasting coffee. It seems to brew just long enough to make perfect coffee for most folks' tastes. For stronger coffee, I can make fewer cups and use more ground coffee. If I'm really in need of a strong cuppa, I'll simply use my French press. I have never had the ground coffee overflow the filter doing this. Also, the heating element seems set to the perfect temperature, since I have never had a cup of coffee from this pot that tasted burnt...and on a number of mornings, I have barely gotten up in time to hear the beep signaling the end of hot coffee.
Best features of this machine--absolutely drip-free pot, unrivaled pure coffee taste, large capacity pot, variable settings for when the heating element will turn off, and an internal clock that retains settings with short interruptions of power.
Improvements that could be made--I wish it had a removable reservoir, but the one pot that I have used that had that feature made the worst coffee I've ever made at home, not to mention the leaky pot.
If you're not looking for espresso, but just a clean, pure cup of good coffee...even when "Early Bird" isn't your middle name, I think you've found what you're looking for in this machine.

Cuisinart DGB500BK Grind and Brew Review

(More customer reviews)I've been using this coffeemaker daily for about 9 months. I'm not completely satisfied with it.
The positive: It does what it's supposed to do, most of the time.
Cons:
- It's a real pain to clean. There are six parts to clean after every pot of coffee. The worst is the two-piece grinder assembly. Due to the complete absence of venting and valving, by the end of the brew the entire grinder assembly is soaking wet from condensed water vapor. This means it is coated with a fine mud of pulverized coffee. The grinder assembly has plenty of annoying nooks and crannies; cleaning it means standing there with a few paper towels, jamming them into the crevices to get the old coffee out. After that, you have to clean the filter holder, the filter holder lid, the pot itself, and the pot lid. The pot lid is annoying, requiring two hands to remove - I usually drop it once a day or so.
- Fit and finish. Once you've passed the plastic parts through the dishwasher once, they never fit quite right again. About once a month, the filter holder pops out during brewing, spilling hot coffee all over my kitchen counter and floor; the cleanup from this invariably scatters wet grounds everywhere.
- The machine ships with one tiny charcoal filter. Once it's done, where do you get another one? I don't bother; I just use Brita-filtered water to begin with.
- The hot water jets out onto one spot, drilling a hole in the grounds, and then quickly fills up the flat-bottomed filter holder, floating the grounds and making a soup which then slowly drains. This isn't the optimal way to extract coffee.
Bottom line - it does what it's supposed to, most of the time. Bad design, however, shows itself in the areas of cleaning, brewing, and operation (including occasional kitchen disasters.) I'm in the market for a different unit.

(More customer reviews)Ok, ok, I have read the reviews. A friend gave me this coffee maker after she had the same experience as other reviewers. She had messes on the counter, floor, etc., and practically threw it at me. Well I've had it for a year now and it's been perfect. I have a feeling that the users who had problems didn't push the filter door in firmly enough. It has to "click" in place. The only problem I've had is that my guests drink up the coffee too fast and I end up making another pot.
As far as cleaning... most of the time I just rinse off the parts and let them dry. Every now and then I dump the parts in the dishwasher. How difficult is that? Also, since the coffee maker doesn't have a hot plate, I preheat the carafe with hot tap water.

(More customer reviews)I went ahead and purchased this product after a lot of research and despite what some of the negative reviewers say. I've had built-in grind coffee machines for awhile, and I can honestly say this little machine produces some of the best tasting coffee there is! The cleanup is easier than my old GE machine (with grinder). No, it's not as easy as a normal coffee maker without the grinder, but then you don't get the freshly ground coffee either.
You're going to have to decide what is right for you. I program mine the night before and wake up to fresh coffee in the morning. The grinder is noisy, but is still quieter than my old machine. After I pour my thermos, it takes me all of three minutes to disassemble and rinse the parts out with hot water, leaving them to drip dry in the sink for when I get home. About once every couple weeks, I hand wash the parts.
I use the thing every week, 5 days a week. It's awesome. I've had no trouble with it. You just have to know that you're getting a grind-and-brew, not just some regular coffee maker. If you're looking for quality coffee, then this is your ticket.

(More customer reviews)Before purchasing the HB 43254 Classic Stainless 12 cup coffee maker I read the reviews like I normally do before making any purchase. I decided to purchase this coffee maker knowing that there may be some minor issues with it - what doesn't these days? After many years of buying coffee makers I have found there is no "perfect" coffee maker that will make everyone happy. You just need to decide what is important to you and your family. That said, after about three weeks of use I found it to be exactly what I was looking for - it makes HOT coffee, the carafe DOESN'T drip and I didn't need to use a manual to set up the clock and timer! If this is what you are looking for stop reading and purchase this unit now. Enjoy the coffee maker...
For those that really need to know more before purchasing continue reading:
- This coffee maker uses basket shaped filters. So you can give your neighbor your unused cone shaped paper filters you may still have.
- The water reservoir does have a rather small opening but it is not too small like some very expensive coffee makers I have seen. Some may find it easier to use a large cup a couple of times to fill the reservoir instead of using the carafe. Either way I never needed to turn the coffee maker sideways to fill the reservoir.
- The water spout does swivel to allow you to install the filter and add coffee. You only need to move it once that is if you fill the water reservoir first. When closing the lid it will move the spout back into the proper position so you don't have to remember to do it yourself.
- I too had a defective carafe that leaked at the top between the plastic rim and glass. I called customer service, waited a few minutes, and spoke to someone in the USA. It was replaced within a few days at no charge. I sealed the original carafe until the replacement arrived.
- I never had an issue with pouring a cup of coffee using the auto pause and serve feature. Besides, how often do you really "need" to have a cup of coffee before it is done brewing? If you are that desperate, set the timer so it is done brewing before you get up in the morning.

This one was a decent price, with a lot of features, include brew/pause, automatic shutoff, a double-walled stainless thermal carafe, and a built-in water filter. The first few pots didn't taste great, even though I ran hot water through it a couple of times before brewing that first pot. The Cuisinart makes GREAT coffee, good and hot. The carafe keeps it hot for a long time. It's a great buy for the money. I made a pot at 7:00 this morning and the coffee is still warm. We're very pleased. It also has a three year warranty. You can't beat it for the price.

It works great and keeps the coffee nice and hot. You must be careful to use a long handled soft(!) sponge to clean it.

(More customer reviews)This unit is a step-down from the DCC1200 model. It doesn't have the self-cleaning feature and doesn't include a gold reusable filter (but it can use one if bought separately). However, its lower price makes it well worth it, as all the most important features are included such as the variable auto shut-off and drip-less carafe (the carafe really works well, it pours better than any other coffee maker I've owned). The one drawback (shared by the DCC1200 model) is that the water level in the tank can be a bit hard to see. Overall, this is an excellent coffee maker that will not disappoint whether you use it just occasionally or every day.

(More customer reviews)A very nice, straightforward coffemaker, makes good coffee with pre-ground beans, can be programmed to start when you want. A nice feature is that it can also be programmed to shut down when you want -- either right after brewing or up to 2 hours later. A bit on the noisy side, even without the grinder function on. Initial setup is easy. Please note that if you do not close *and latch* the reservoir cover, the machine will beep constantly and not brew until you do. Drove me crazy for about 15 minutes until I noticed that the cover wasn't fully latched. Although it does tell you that in the instruction manual, it's not immediately evident -- it's a line in the middle of lengthy instruction under #6 "Close Reservoir Lid", on page 8.

It was a learning curve to figure out how many scoops of whole beans to add for a good cup of coffee. A small scoop is included, with instructions to use one scoop per cup. However, the grind on this machine is fairly coarse, so it comes out a bit weaker than I'm used to. Adding a bit more each time took me over the top to "bitter," so it's hard to find a balance. I'm afraid I enjoy pre-ground coffee in this coffeemaker more than whole-bean.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this coffee maker around Christmas and was a little concerned over the prior reviews that stated it uses too much coffee. The chemist in me had to do the experiment.
A standard issue coffee from Starbucks was ground to a standard medium grind for coffee makers of this type. The coffee was measured on a 1 gram precision scale according to the specification on the Starbucks coffee bag (2Tbs per 6oz cup) to make 6 cups of coffee. The coffee grinds weighed to be 54 grams. The same coffee beans from the same bag were ground in the coffee maker set to 6 cups and strong. The coffee grinds were then measured on the same scale and wouldn't you know...it was exactly 54 grams.
For my coffee beans this machine on the 6 cup setting produced the following:
Strong = 9 grams (2Tbs) of coffee per cup of water
Medium = 8 grams (about - 1 3/4Tbs) of coffee per cup of water
Mild = 7 grams (about - 1 1/2Tbs) of coffee per cup of water
I can't imagine that one couldn't find a setting to their liking when you consider you have increments of 2 cups with 3 settings (strong, medium and mild) each.
