(More customer reviews)I purchased the Beater Blade to use with my Viking 7-Qt. mixer; my primary use of that machine is making artisan breads.
I love my Viking mixer for bread making, but occasionally use it to make cookies which contain a high proportion of oatmeal. Thus, the dry ingredients are prone to gathering along the sides and bottom of the mixing bowl and require that I stop the mixer, lift the head and move the ingredients using a spatula. While that isn't exactly a Herculean task, it is annoying. However, due to a stubborn streak and a less than industrious attitude on the particular day, I tried scraping the side of the bowl while the mixer was down and moving - even though I know better. The result was a broken spatula - just as one would expect.
When I saw this Beater Blade, I thought it might solve the problem. Once you have adjusted the Beater Blade, it does an excellent job of clearing the sides and bottom of the bowl. If you mix a lot of cookie dough or batter-type foods, then this item is well worth the money you will spend for it. The Beater Blade doesn't generate heat like the metal beaters, and, as a result, shortenings do not melt during creaming. The final product is much less "soupy" than when making cookie doughs using a metal beater. However, if you use your mixer primarily for breads, as I do, then the the Beater Blade is probably something you can live without.
I rated this item four stars because its utility is questionable in relation to the cost. Further, I have some concern about the longevity of the blade itself and whether it will wear quickly or whether it will become brittle if washed in the dishwasher.

KitchenAid Stand Mixer Cloth Cover Review

(More customer reviews)I've had my Artisan 5 Quart Kitchenaid Stand Mixer for a few years now, and always thought that this cover was a bit of a luxury, and that I could easily find fifty other things to spend twenty-five bucks on. Even for all of that, it occurred to me recently that, with cats in my house, a cover for my stand mixer would save me some pre-mixing clean-up time. Now that I've gotten my cover, I'm thrilled that I decided to buy it!
This cover is plenty big for my mixer. I leave all of the attachments in the bowl, as I'm sure your average Kitchenaid stand mixer owner does, and this cover fits over everything with plenty of room to spare. The bottom edge of the cover hits the countertop and covers every inch of my mixer, with no problem doing so. I even put the cover in the washer and dryer after receiving it, to see how much it might shrink. Mine didn't shrink at all, and the laundering got it fragrant and wrinkle-free.
Even though my stand mixer is white, I opted for the khaki cover, which blends in perfectly with my kitchen cabinets and counter tops.
This may not have been the absolute best thing I've ever gotten on Amazon for $25.00 or less (that'd be my Weber chimney starter - best damned $12.00 I've spent in a long time!!!), but this is right up there with the best of my best-buy-for-the-money purchases!

Cuisinart SM-CJ Citrus-Juicer Attachment for Cuisinart Stand Mixer, White Review

(More customer reviews)Good basic juicer attachment. Fits on mixer snugly, and doesn't bind, no matter bow hard you press. Because the juicer gets all it's power from the mixer, it's variable speed, which is a nice feature to have.
The only downside is that it's a bit of a pain to get on and off. You have to use the shaft of the juicer to unscrew a cap on the mixer, then use the plastic bowel of the juicer as a wrench to screw the entire assembly on to the mixer. This isn't too bad in and of itself, but I wonder how the plastic bowl will hold up under the stress. They don't make plastic wrenches for a reason ;-). I've had it for a month or two so far, and it hasn't had any problems though.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product after being somewhat disappointed with the flat beater which came with the Kitchenaid. With the normal flat beater, I was having to scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl several times during the mixing process for cakes and biscuits and almost felt let down after having desired my Kitchenaid for years before I could actually afford it!
Well, within seconds of using my new beater blade I felt relief and excitement that the Kitchenaid was finally working as it should. This product scrapes the sides and bottom automatically producing lovely fluffy results. Highly recommended for anyone who bakes a lot.
