Electrolux DLX-2000 Magic Mill Assistent Stand Mixer, MagicMill DX200 N24 Assistant Review

Electrolux DLX-2000 Magic Mill Assistent Stand Mixer, MagicMill DX200 N24 Assistant
Average Reviews:

Electrolux DLX-2000 Magic Mill Assistent Stand Mixer is a superb dough kneader. I make bread so I have not used it to make other food items. I took up bread making last year after a 25 year lapse. I started with an all in one bread maker but it was not versatile enough. I sold it. I then tried a Kitchen Aid Professional 600 which burned out after 5 minutes of kneading 6 cups of whole grain flour. I returned it. I bought the DLX-2000 and I haven't looked back. It handles 12 cups of whole grain flour without a hiccup. The resulting dough is beautiful.
This mixer is solidly constructed. The foot print is about the same as the large Kitchen Aid stand mixers but it is not as tall. It is much easier to use because the bowl is completely open. I bought the grain flaker attachment. I'll report later how it works.

KitchenAid K45DH Dough Hook Replacement for KSM90 and K45 Stand Mixer Review

KitchenAid K45DH Dough Hook Replacement for KSM90 and K45 Stand Mixer
Average Reviews:

I love, love, love our Kitchenaid mixer, but I'm not thrilled with the quality of the dough hooks - I'm about to order our 3rd in less than 12 months. The enamel cracks on the end of the hook, and I'm afraid that using it risks chips of enamel ending up in the finished dough. Granted - they're only $15 to replace, but I don't feel like I should need to replace it so frequently... I'd happily pay quite a bit for a stainless steel one.

BlendTec Mix n' Blend II Mixer/Blender - K-tec Mixer / Blender Combo

I purchased the Mix and Blend machine by K-tec over two years ago. I have had at least five if not six replacement machines. I grind my own wheat and bought the machine originally to mix my wheat dough, but the machines keep breaking. K-tec has been very good about replacing the motor bases, but in the end I had to purchase a more expensive dough maker from another company to solve my problem. Basically, I wasted over $300. Don't buy this machine if you think that you want to mix up wheat dough. It just does not hold up. The vital parts are plastic.

KitchenAid New Professional 5.5 QT Commercial Style Wide Steel Bowl Stand Mixer 550 HD 575 Watt Motor- Empire Red Review

KitchenAid New Professional 5.5 QT Commercial Style Wide Steel Bowl Stand Mixer 550 HD 575 Watt Motor- Empire Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this KitchenAid after looking at mixers for quite awhile. I kept coming back to the KitchenAid, as it was the same mixer I'd seen in my mother's kitchen, as well as the kitchens of many people I know who are avid chefs.
Things I like about this:
1. It is very heavy duty. There is nothing cheap feeling about this mixer. The bowl fits solidly into the lifting arms, and even when mixing dough at high speed, the mixer barely moves at all.
2. It comes with the basic attachments you will use constantly. We've made many doughs and mixes, and the motor has handled everything we've thrown at it.
Things I don't like about this mixer:
1. When using the whisk attachment for trying to make some whipped cream, it didn't feel like it was going all the way down into the bowl, and after 5 minutes, it hadn't frothed up into whipped cream. Perhaps it failed as I was using half and half instead of heavy whipping cream, but my hand mixer has worked on this in the past. I see there is an adjustment screw, and maybe this will correct the problem
2. Doesn't include a mixing shield. When using a lot of flour or light ingredients, it would be nice to have some sort of quick-release shield.
3. Accessories are not cheap!
Overall, I'd say if you are on the fence--buy this mixer. If you don't think you'd use it--think again. We make great muffins, batters, doughs (really good pizza dough!).

Samson / Matstone 6-in-1 Juicer - Model GB9001 - 10 Yr Warranty Review

Samson / Matstone 6-in-1 Juicer - Model GB9001 - 10 Yr Warranty
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a huge juicer. Every morning my wife and I juice. We noticed that our juiceman jr was not efficiently juicing our green vegies. It was wasting 90% of them. The green veggies (expensive I might add) went right into the plastic bin hardly touched. I went to Jamba Juice and they explained how an auger presses the green juices - and, that's what Jamba uses for their wheat grass....well, the rest is history. I did my homework and found out that augers are more efficient just like Jamba explained. And, kitchens best walked me through the entire thing. Plus, they offered a 90 day money back warranty. They are incredibly nice and I can't believe they offer that kind of awesome money back gaurantee. Anyway, they are RIGHT about the juicer - it absolutely presses out 95% more green juice than the Jack Lalane and Juice man Jr. styles..and it does a better job on apples, ginger, and everything else too. The ONLY down side is - it's a slower process. But, in life - you can't have everything. I would much rather take a minute or two more each day and get my monies worth out of the fruits and veggies I buy than to speed through it and waste my food. Also, I seriously think it tastes better too!! Reason being, the other style spins it so fast - I swear it tasted "burned" sometimes. The Samson seems sweeter and more mellow. Anyway, trust me - you won't go wrong with this juicer or this company. Lovely company. Fair price too. Nobody offers a 90 day warranty...not even KMART OR WALLMART!! Nuff said. Buy it - you will thank me later.

The Matstone 6-in-1 Juicer is the most well known versatile single auger juicer on the market today. It has also been sold for many years under the brand name Samson 6-in-1 Juicer. Buy the original Matstone factory brand direct today and get the same great juicer at a discounted price over other published brands. The Matstone 6-in-1 single auger juicer has six completely different functions, making this juicer six machines in one! Not only can you extract juice from fruit, vegetables, and wheatgrass, you can also: mince or chop seasonings, mince meats and fish, use as a food mill to make bread sticks, cookies, and pastas, or use to extract oil from sesame seeds (extra attachment required). The Matstone Juicer produces 3 and 1/2 times more juice from vegetables and fruits when compared with existing conventional juicers. Regular high-speed juicers can destroy natural flavors and the nutritional value of vegetables and fruits. With its low 80 RPMs, the Matstone Juicer preserves as much flavor and nutritional value as possible. Juice made with the Matstone Juicer can be stored in the fridge for 48 hours without the loss of flavor, nutrients or appearance. The Matstone is made of U.S. FDA-approved polycarbonate and melamine. The materials are semi-permanent and extremely hygienic. The redesign and reinforcing of the juicing screen combined with the advanced auger design gives a finer juice. The auger design also allows for easier processing of fruit and vegetables. The Matstone Juicer has a built-in safety control device to prevent over-heating and it restarts when it has cooled down. The Matstone Juicer is easy to assemble, disassemble, and clean. It only takes 15 seconds to assemble or disassemble this juicer and about a minute to clean it! Whether you're new to juicing or a pro, this juicer will be a benefit to your health. Quick and easy to use, The Matstone Juicer allows you to make tasty juice in minutes while still maximizing the natural nutrients and enzymes!

Bamix 391203 deluxe hand mixer in silver. Review

Bamix 391203 deluxe hand mixer in silver.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned my BAMIX hand blender for the past 12-years. It has never let me down and it truly is the most versatile kitchen device in my arsenal of cooking appliances. The machine works well between mixing & blending items on a hot stove, to crushing ice in in a single glass for making margaritas, all within seconds apart. The open ended design allows it to get at all the material you are chopping & mixing, and clean up is truly fast and easy. I've recently bought another hand mixer this year, because I misplaced my BAMIX hand blender. Anyway, what a disapointment to find that this major-named-brand of mixer, only has one blade, and it can't fit into a normal drinking glass. This past month I found my tried-n-true BAMIX hand blender, and was so grateful that I threw out the practically new hand mixer. Now that's true dedication to a product.
I have not seen anything close to the design of this hand blender on the market to this day that can replace this amazing machine. My only complaint is that I wish the price would come down. After all, it is one of the most expensive hand blenders on the market, but it is certainly the best.

I got this based only on price, you can't get a blender for less than $23 even at your local stores. I received it this past weekend and I put it to the ultimate test: Iced drinks! I put some ice cubicals, without precrushing them, and this little guy performed great! I then added some juice and fruits and enjoyed a wonderful iced beverage. Highly recommended also if you lift weights and need an easy-to-clean blender to mix the unmixable protein shake. All in all a great product and so far so good. I give it an extra point for not using glass (i.e. does not break) and for being extra easy to clean.

Norpro Cordless Mini Mixer, 5 Piece Set Review

Norpro Cordless Mini Mixer, 5 Piece Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product works! I use it to mix up protein shakes. It is small and easy to clean. It essentially is a piece of molded plastic with a motor that holds two AA batteries. The on/off switch is plastic that depresses a metal contact. Put together it feels solid. With fresh batteries it really can whip up a drink. The only think I don't like about it is, its does not have any speed variance. It's either full on or full off. So to prevent splashing an on/off pulse method is used. Amazingly enough the little device still has plenty of power using half exhausted batteries. I used the NIMH batteries that my digital cameras says are dead; they work great in this mixer. If you have a tall glass the attachments might not reach the bottom before the plastic housing touches your liquid. This sometimes results in unmixed powder and/or liquid/goo in the housing. This is a minor problem and is easily avoided with some finesse from the user. All things considered this little device is certainly worth the money.

One of my children licked a beater after mixing a cake, and inadvertently threw it the trash instead of the sink. I ordered one of these to replace it, but received something akin to half a beater (x2, of course). These beaters are just fine, but I realize now the name of what I really wanted is named differently, and the way these are pictured makes them look fuller; so these aren't what I had intended to buy, but they do work just great. And the service from the company was great - very quick ship time.

I bought this mixer 6 months and 2 weeks ago. One of the beaters won't go in all the way - so I can only beat things with one beater. I tried to get it fixed under the warranty - because it is over 6 months - NO GOOD! But, I did buy it with my American Express credit card and they double the warranty!!! Long story short... American Express is giving me back my purchase price and you can be sure I won't buy this model. I am planning on purchasing a different model with Kitchen Aid because of their normally good quality products!! Hope I won't get burned again!
UPDATE! UPDATE!! UPDATE!!
KitchenAid made it good. They sent me another reconditioned hand mixer and it works perfectly!!! I will buy KitchenAid products from now on!!! Also, I tried to change my 1 star rating to a 5 star rating - but the system wouldn't let me - just know I give this product AND this company a 5 star rating!!! Thanks KitchenAid!!

Hamilton Beach 62695V Power Deluxe Hand Mixer Review

Hamilton Beach 62695V Power Deluxe Hand Mixer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an addendum to my earlier review on this product, which is now "resting in peace" (more precisely, pieces).
I burned it out the other night while making a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (the dough for these is heavier than the tollhouse recipe I tested in my first review). A puff of white smoke was my only warning -- in fact, it wasn't really a warning, but the signal that my mixer would mix no more.
I opened the appliance to see if a fusible link had protected the motor. Alas, there was nothing like that, just light-gauge wires and springs that popped out. The motor died, and the motor is the heart of the mixer.
Still, I want to let my 4-star rating stand, with the warning that this mixer is really meant for lighter-duty use. It still represents a good value. Just be aware that if you're doing things like mixing heavy doughs, you'd really be better off with a small stand mixer.

Universal Plus Kitchen Machine (w/ out blender) Review

Universal Plus Kitchen Machine (w/ out blender)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This mixer is powerful. You have the main unit where you attach your bowl, and a secondary unit where you can attach a blender.
There are many, many accessories you can buy for this unit. Be sure if you buy accessories you buy for the correct unit as accessories for this model are NOT interchangeable with Bosch's previous all-in-one machine! I've already had to return one attachment because I made this mistake. Look for accessories that have a model number starting with MUZ6!
This machine tears up just about any food you throw at it. When you turn it on you can get the feel for the full 800 watts of power it is capable of by it's roaring sound. You may need to run to your circuit breakers to find a suitable plug for the unit, since 800watts is just about the limit most circuit breakers can take. It's doubtful you can run this unit along with another kitchen appliance at the same time in the same receptacle.
Cleanup is not fun, not fun at all. I did not like the design of the bowl in this aspect. There are plenty of crooks and crevices that dough gets in that take some scrubbing to get out. Also, the top/center of the bowl serves as the "gears" for some of your accessories, but when not using them, they catch quite a bit of food in them, and it is difficult to clean.
While on the subject of the bowl, other than cleanup, it's an awesome design. There is a removable splash guard around the rim that allows you to add flour to a recipe, while the unit is running without making a mess. You also have another lid that fits into the splash guard for the bowl to cover it should you need to rise dough.
My unit came with the blender, so I'll review it here as well. The blender is wonderful too. I can actually grind my own wheat in it for pancakes and cleanup is a snap. Also the design of the blades is ingenious as one blade is actually pointed downward toward the base to clear shop where most blenders don't touch. One problem I did have was with the blades and how they attach to the blender. They are removable, but when you put them back you need to really make sure that you tighten it well. If they are not tight enough, your blended battery goo will fall down into the crevices of the machine, which could possibly damage it. There are unfortunately small holes where this could easily occur. Unfortunately when you tighten the blades down, it's really difficult to get them untightened (Believe me, I'm a man, it's hard!). I end up having to get a pair of pliers and using them backwards (grip handles on the device) to get the blades out.
Another issue with the blender that has to potential to drive me nuts is the small removable top (not the main blender top, but the small plastic piece you can remove to stuff food down). There is a hole in it! Not large, probably about 1/4 inch, but it's still large enough that if you blend just right your stuff will come out of the blender. There is absolutely nothing you can do about this, shy of sticking your finger, a napkin or paper towel down it while blending. Bosch wanted this to act more like a drip funnel, but I just don't get the point of having a hole here.
Hands down, this is a great unit, and Bosch has a known reputation of creating kitchen units that last for years, even decades! I would definitely recommend this one to anyone serious about cooking in their home!

KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers Review

KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wedding gift mixer (a Sunbeam Mixmaster) turned 33 a week before Christmas, and my husband thought it was time for me to have a new one. He gifted me on Christmas with the KitchenAid 5 Qt. Artisan in white. I love this mixer and leave it out on my counter, something I never did with the Mixmaster. I recently purchased the citrus juicer attachment from Amazon and am very pleased with it as well. I have not read all 109 previous reviews on this site, but I have read a few that were disgruntled because their Artisans did not mix well. I initially had the same problem with the beater/bowl clearance. It is very simple to remedy. There is a beater adjustment screw on the mixer and the manual describes how to make the adjustments. I got even better instructions by calling customer support at KitchenAid. The technician told me to drop a dime into the empty bowl, turn the mixer on (about setting 2) using the flat beater, and it should move the dime 1/4" to 1/2" each time it rotates around the bowl. This is the right clearance for the beater to mix everything at the bottom of the bowl, but not low enough to cause wear on the beater from constant friction with the bottom of the bowl during usage. I tweaked the screw setting 1/4 turn each time until I got that dime moving. At this setting, I can now beat a single egg white to stiff peaks in the 5 qt. bowl. That's impressive.
This mixer is as sturdy as a tank, and you can hear the quality as it mixes. Although I had previously purchased a KitchenAid mixer for my daughter as a gift, I would never have splurged on one for myself.I am so happy my husband thought I was worth it!

KitchenAid RVSA Slicer/Shredder Attachment for Stand Mixers Review

KitchenAid RVSA Slicer/Shredder Attachment for Stand Mixers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nota Bene:
I have tried to contact Kitchen-Aid for over a month, wrote 4 EM via the KitchenAid customer support Website, and beside their promise to answer within 3 business day, I have yet to hear from them.
I'm truly disappointed with their customer support and the RSVA.
Kitchen-Hell: "for the way it's made"Well,
What a deception!
Probably the worst shredder I ever used.
I purchase this product in the idea that KitchenAid was a good brand (by experience), but I must admit that I have the feeling that I paid $50 for a very, very poor shredder, which should be sold $15 maximum. A $7 Walmart hand shredder makes a better job.
I have the feeling that KitchenAid just ripped me off.
I'm a mechanical engineer and I love to cook, and I'm normally the type to buy one excellent knife instead of 2 poor ones, but this time, I was fooled.
So , let's review the product:
First of all, the cones are not stainless steel, but regular steel, badly chromed.
It means that, one day or another, they will rust.
How can you tell? Use a magnet, if it is not sticking, it's a 18/10 stainless steel. (18% Chrome + 10% Nickel, a TRUE Stainless Steel)
Try with your kitchenaid mixing bowl, and you'll see.
It also means that if you ever try to sharpen the slicing blades, you'll take off the chrome and it WILL rust very quickly.
I'm sorry, but a brand like Kitchenaid should AT LEAST, provides Stainless Steel cones. Especially at 50 bucks a piece. (and I suppose that's why it is stated HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY), not allowed to use regular steel in a restaurant)
The blades are either dull, unevenly sharpened, or not at all(sides). It mashes or puree very well, but the cuts are uneven and messy. I just wanted a slicer, not a musher.
The sharpening on (my) slicing cones is visibly uneven. one side slices, the other not.
The gap between the cones and the body is too big, food goes in, get pushed in by the dull cones to end up in a mess.
The cones rotate unevenly, off balance, which adds to the previous mess.
The length of the blades is smaller than the size of the spout. (the cutting length should be a least the size of the spout, not smaller )
In short: everything that goes is those corners is miserably mashed So, as a result, in my opinion: buy something else.
Add $20 and buy yourself something decent. Plus, the attachment is so bulky that a food processor will not take much space.
My grade on a 10 scale: 3
Probably the worst shredder I ever used.
And if you ever decide to buy one , please contact me , for $25, you'll have an almost brand new one.

This attachment performs the cutting and shredding duties your food processor might: select the proper cone, slip it into the plastic housing, and attach all to your stand mixer's hub with a metal shaft. You can shred potatoes, onions, nuts, and chocolate, or slice vegetables for cooking or munching. While it adds versatility to your mixer, the unit is cumbersome to disassemble--more so than KitchenAid's other nifty attachments--and its several parts make it difficult to store. Cuisinart SM-70 7-Quart Stand Mixers Review

I make bread weekly using a mixer and recently my Kitchenaid motor gave out after overheating. Though I prefer the looks of the Kitchenaid mixers (something more industrial about them), Cuisinart has addressed several of the key problems found in Kitchenaid mixers: not enough power, overly wide bowl shape, absene of timer/minimal speed control. The stronger motor is crucial if you're mixing bread doughs for minutes at a time. The taller, more narrow bowl shape prevents spilling. The timer function is tremendously useful. And the wider range of speeds (especially slow speeds) and gentle acceleration up to any speed, again, prevent spills and allow for more control.
Other features I like: the spill guard fits neatly and is ONE piece (again, unlike my old Kitchenaid); the lock feature clicks the top arm into place so you never run the risk of lifting from the top and having the bottom swing out; the smooth surfaces make for easy clean-up; the attachments all wash easily in the dishwasher.
A great product!

Housed in durable die-cast metal, this stand mixer features a powerful 1,000-watt motor that can handle the heaviest mixing tasks. Its extra-large, 7-quart, stainless-steel bowl accommodates big batches--even double or triple recipes. The unit also provides 12 mixing speeds, along with a 15-minute countdown timer and automatic shutoff, for maximum precision. Choose the slow-start function to eliminate splatter or the ultra-gentle fold function to carefully blend in delicate ingredients. The mixer's tilt-back head allows for easy access to the mixing bowl and makes attaching accessories simple.Accessories include a chef's whisk, a flat mixing paddle, and a dough hook, as well as a splashguard. The whisk aerates ingredients to increase volume or can also be used on slow speed to gently combine dry ingredients. Contoured to reach the bottom and sides of the bowl, the flat mixing paddle ensures thorough mixing. The dough hook makes hand kneading obsolete, while the splashguard offers an extra-wide pouring spout for easily adding ingredients. The stand mixer also contains three power outlets, including a high-speed outlet for its optional dedicated attachments (meat grinder, citrus juicer, blender, food processor, or pasta maker--all sold separately). The stand mixer measures 15-1/2 by 11 by 14-1/2 inches and carries a three-year product warranty and a five-year motor warranty. From the Manufacturer An Array of Helpful Features

Cuisinart SM-55 5-1/2-Quart Stand Mixers Review

I've been a long-time fan of the KitchenAid mixer. My grandmother has been using the same KitchenAid mixer since the late 50s, and it's still going strong. I was thrilled to get a KitchenAid "Ultra-Power" mixer as a gift about seven years ago, and it worked great for occasional use. Over the past couple of years I've been doing more and more baking, and about a year ago I began making my own bread. After about six months of using my KitchenAid to knead two loaves of whole-wheat bread every week or so, it made a terrible grinding noise, and stopped working. I decided I'd better buy a new KitchenAid with a more powerful motor, and went online to see which was recommended. Much to my surprise, the reviews for the KitchenAid were no longer as positive as they had been. People were complaining about a decrease in quality and customer service. The biggest complaint was that some metal parts had been replaced by plastic, and while it sounded as if the company had recently started making the parts out of metal again, people were giving tips on how to determine if the model you were purchasing had the metal or plastic gearboxes. On top of that, Cooks Illustrated ranked the Cuisinart mixer above KitchenAid in a March 2008 review.
I did more research and found that the warranty was much better on the Cuisinart than on the KitchenAid. So, nervously, I decided to switch from what I had always considered to be the top brand, and I bought the Cuisinart.
My first impressions were mixed. I immediately liked the way the mixer looked, but I was nervous about it, because the body and the mixing paddles are much lighter in weight than on the KitchenAid. It lacks the solid, all-metal feel of the KitchenAid. Since the KitchenAid jittered all over the counter when I was using it to knead bread or even whip butter and sugar together for cookies, I figured the Cuisinart would probably fly off the counter. I decided to use it pretty hard for six months, and then write my review.
I've used it every seven to ten days to make two loaves of heavy, whole-grain bread, have made many batches of cookies and several cakes and I'm very happy to write that this is a GREAT mixer.
Much to my surprise, it doesn't jitter at all, not even when I'm using it to knead bread. Ingredients are more thoroughly mixed, and I don't need to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula nearly as often as I needed to with my KitchenAid. Counter space in my kitchen is limited, so I keep the mixer in a cupboard, and the lighter weight means that it's much easier to move around. In my experience, the lighter weight has NOT affected, in any way, the performance.
Once, when I was kneading some heavy dough on speed #4 for about twice as long as the usual seven or eight minutes (I'd forgotten to add salt to the bread and was trying to knead it in) the mixer overheated and shut itself down. It hasn't done that since, and frankly, I'd rather that happen than have the gears freeze up and completely destroy the gearbox, as happened with my KitchenAid. Another greatly appreciated feature is that some clever person designed the bowl so that it's easy to remove, even after I've used the mixer to knead dough. The bowl on the KitchenAid would lock so tightly after kneading bread that I'd have to wrench it free, usually skinning my knuckles in the process. Some reviewers complain that the bread dough "climbs" the kneading hook, making a mess. I find that the dough actually climbs a lot less than it did when I used my KitchenAid. One reviewer mentioned that she finds the splash guard mostly useless, but I love it -- I find it truly useful, unlike the awkward, two-piece splash guard that came with my KitchenAid.
The timer function is nice, especially now that I don't need to stand over the mixer while it's kneading, worrying that it'll jitter its way onto the floor. I don't leave the room, but now I set the timer and let the mixer do its thing while I prep other ingredients or grease the baking pans. I really like the slow-start feature -- no more cloud of flour when I turn on the mixer.
Basically, this mixer does everything my KitchenAid did, and does it better. The performance has been highly satisfactory, and if it breaks down any time in the next five years, it will still be under warranty ... unlike my KitchenAid, which was only covered for a year.
I don't hate KitchenAid -- I think the mixers are probably still a good product, overall. I know that I was using mine for more than it was designed to handle. However, I am happier with the Cuisinart and have recommended it highly to several friends.
This is still a relatively early review. I expect stand mixers to last for at least a decade, and ideally for much longer. Six months after my purchase, I'm very happy with this machine. If anything happens to change that, I'll update this review.

I dropped my mixer! I was doing a lot of Christmas baking, the countertop was crowded, I put it too close to the edge of the counter and WHAM, it fell to the floor, landing hard, upside down. While I have no idea how the trauma will affect the overall life of the mixer, it still works fine. The top is a little askew now, and the hinged door at the front that covers the slow-speed power outlet will no longer stay closed. But: the mixer works as well as it ever did. I really wish I hadn't dropped it, but this is a strong peice of equipment. That was a hard fall from countertop height to a hardwood floor, and there appears to have been nothing more than cosmetic damage. I've been baking as much as ever, and it still works beautifully.

Wow -- I don't often look back at my reviews, and when I came back today to make an update, I was surprised that so many people found this helpful. Thanks! I hope if you bought a mixer based on my recommendation that you've loved it. Mine is still going strong, and this evening over dinner, I recommended it to a friend who was thinking of buying a new stand mixer.
Thank you to those who have commented, it adds some additional insight and balance. It was interesting reading the comments -- one person commented that this mixer didn't really handle large batches of heavy rye dough, so you might want to keep that in mind if you make a LOT of bread. I'm still making a loaf or two every week and am quite pleased. One commenter mentioned that his KitchenAid mixer never moved around the countertop. Since I would have to literally hold my KitchenAid down while kneading bread, it makes me wonder how much variance you might find between individual mixers. One of the things I still really, really like about the Cuisinart is that it stays still for me, even when I'm kneading a couple of loaves-worth of bread dough. In fact, I've recently stepped up my bread baking, because I've been experimenting with sourdough recipes. I've also been churning out a LOT of batches of cookies recently as I experiment with a new recipe. (I noticed today that my jeans are feeling a bit tight around the waist. Maybe I need to experiment with something a bit lower-calorie. But, I digress.)
Anyway, I logged on this evening to say I'm still quite pleased with my mixer. Despite the tragic dropping incident over a year and a half ago, the Cuisinart is still working beautifully.
