Chops firmer stuff like onions, bell peppers, etc. pretty well. Gotta be careful not to underestimate # of chops, then chop more if pieces too big. Otherwise a couple or three extra chops can result in a semi-puree!
Cleanup is pretty easy and quick.
Cons -
Useless for mushrooms, which is one of the things I need to chop most often - the pieces of mushrooms get wedged in between the blades, which prevents the blades from being lifted all the way back up for the next chopping motion. I had to use a couple of different small utensils to get in between the blades and unwedge the pieces.
Reassembly would be a breeze except for one thing - there's a piece with cutouts that slides over the blades and keeps the chopped pieces from getting in the chopping mechanism, and you have to slide it off the blades for cleanup, then slide it back on over the blades to reassemble. The PROBLEM is that there's very little wiggle room in the cutouts on that piece, and the material of the piece is a bit pliable, so the cutout spaces get compressed, making it a ROYAL PAIN to get it to line up properly to slide back up over the blades. I worked out a way that has it a bit easier, but it took a bit of trial and error, I'd explain it but I think it's not worth the trouble.
Thankfully I got it for only 5 bucks on sale at CVS/Pharmacy, so not such a terrible loss.

(More customer reviews)Don't let the negative reviews here fool you. This bread machine itself is great, and I can't believe how inexpensive! I picked it up for under $40 at Walmart only to see it is now $34 here on Amazon. It makes 1.5 or 2 lb loaves, has a jam setting, a "raisin beep" (signal to add fresh fruit and other ingredients during the second kneading), bake only (like cakes) and dough only (to mix in machine then bake in oven). Also has up to 13 hour delay so you can wake or come home to fresh bread.
It's the recipes that come in the booklet that are bad. They all have way too much yeast, which is a classic cause of fallen loaves. I can't imagine how they came up with recipes with so much yeast! ANYhoo, I strongly suggest that if you've never made bread by hand before, pick up a good all-inclusive intro to bread machine baking book that includes recipes (I think Better Homes and Gardens and Betty Crocker both have well-rated ones on Amazon). Usually the front of these books include bread baking basics, regardless of whether you are using a machine. The booklets that come with bread machines have only a few very basic recipes anyway, like a crockpot instruction book. This machine is a sturdy, capable tool to use with a descent book. It's too bad the included free one is a dud!
Things to remember: you MUST measure carefully, even more so than with other baking. Don't use dry measure cups to measure your liquid ingredients. Fresh yeast AND flour are a must. Know that adding/substituting in yeast bread recipes is not as "OK" as with other baking.
Also, know that any bread machine is not as much of a "fix it and forget it" walk-away tool as a crock pot (at least, not if you want a perfect loaf every time). You need to check the dough during the second knead cycle to make sure it isn't too wet or dry (which will depend on the weather!). You may have to scrape the sides of the pan, or add additional ingredients (like fruit) later in the cycle. The bread machine is aimed at taking the physical labor out of breadmaking, and also conveniently bake in the same pan. Technically, the same can be accomplished with a heavy-duty mixer and a good oven.

(More customer reviews)I really like this mincer. I have it for less than a month, so I don't know how it will perform on long run, but for now I am completely satisfied.
I bought it to make a flour.
I have allergy to gluten and yeast, so I have to bake my own breads and cakes.
First - gluten-free flours are very expensive, second - not all of them you can find in supermarket, and you have to look for it in specialty stores.
Like today I found a recipe for brioche, which calls for millet flour; I did not have this, but I had millet grains. I used this machine and now - I have a millet flour.
Plus pound of rice cost $0.99 and pound of rice flour runs from $2.99 to $3.99 per pound, if you use a lot of gluten free flour you will pretty quickly will pay off for this machine (I bought it on another site for $74.00 and shipping was free).
I like also that this machine is small enough. Most of flour mills are very bulky.
I can get pretty fine flour by using Miracle Mincer, but if you are perfectionist maybe it won't be fine enough for you.
Another good quality - it is not extremal loud, even my spooky dogs are not running away when I am using it. I hope it will lust long enough.
I like that it is made in Italy (lately everything is made in China, and quality is suffering, not a price.)

(More customer reviews)I found this to be my best buy for a single cook. I use it weekly to make up things to add to dishes. It is very strong with sharp blades. The cup holds just that. Many of the foods do get ground up a lot. I have to do a little cutting to put the items in the cup so the blades can hit them right. I am satisfied with this and it has added to what I can do with fruits,vegetables,nuts,and chocolate. It is good value for the money!

I would not know it was anything but pristine. I threw my old bigger food processor away. This is a great item, chops very fast and sharp. whats really cool is how the blade flips over for grinding denser foods such as nuts or ice without dulling the sharp blade. Highly recommended.

I keep all of my walnuts etc. in the freezer to keep them fresh and this chopper chops the frozen nuts wonderfully. I was leary at first, hanging on to my old crank nut chopper handed down from my husbands mother. It didn't take me long to toss the old one away. I just love this chopper and use it for all my cooking needs. A wonderful purchase at a wonderful price.

(More customer reviews)I highly recommend the Cuisinart Mini-Prep. I've had one for 6 years and it is still running beautifully. For such a small unit it has a surprisingly powerful motor. It can chop or puree vegies, fruits, - even cooked beef, chicken, and fish. When I first bought it I used it mainly for chopping onions, garlic, herbs, etc., but then I began to discover the possibilities. Ofcourse, the portions you are able to prepare are small, but if you're alone or have a very small family, it's a great little machine. Also a breeze to clean (not like the large Cuisinart units). Only negative is that it is rather noisy, however, for this price it is a terrific value. I must add that I bought two other mini processors prior to this one (both by Black & Decker) and was thoroughly dissatisfied with them. The motors were not powerful at all and the blades were in a different position than Cuisinart Mini-Prep. They could not chop more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at a time or it would not run. Neither unit would puree anything, only coarse chopping was possible. If you're looking for a good mini processor the Cuisinart Mini-Prep is it!

(More customer reviews)The B&D model DDCM200 is a great product for two people. It's advantage is in allowing two different cups to be brewed - different flavors, strengths, caffinated/decaffinated, or even tea.
Every cup comes out consistent once you learn how much coffee to put into basket for the amount of water you put in. We have learned this ratio for varying amounts of water so if we feel like a full or half mug we can get what we desire - consistently, and fast.
A knob on the top turned to the left diverts water to just the left side for one cup, or when turned to the right yields two cups. When brewing two, the left cup always gets a bit more water than the right - the right mug's coffee level is about 3/8ths of an inch lower than the left mug.
You can use the supplied baskets and forgo filters, but I like to use the #1 paper filters inside the baskets as cleanup is even easier than just the basket - the choice is yours.
As for noise, it does make some but I in no way find it offensive. Unlike some coffee makers that seem to linger, when the brew cycle finishes the water stops entering the basket almost immediately. I like this as when it's done, it's done.
There are no hot plates in this maker - nothing to burn any errant drippings, no safety issues. In fact if after brewing you leave the machine on, it will turn itself off. The coffee is meant to brew directly into your mug. I generally brew into an old, large, Dunkin Donuts (made by THERMO) mug without it's lid. This mug is better insulated and keeps my coffee warm enough for me for a long time. I do NOT like coffee too hot to drink. If a coffee shop wants me to use a cup insulator sleeve to keep from burning my hand, then the coffee is way too hot for me. I mention this as the B&D DDCM200 makes a hot cup of coffee but if you are expecting it to be so hot you'd need a sleeve, it won't be.
This machine is fast. It is faster than many of my Mr. Coffee machines and only the single cup machine I use at work is faster.
Would I buy it again? YES, YES, YES! I'm here at Amazon looking for a second one for use at my girlfriend's house. She got me mine a year ago (been working great for a year) and likes it so much she now wants one. When she moves in here next year, we will have two so I'll have a backup. I don't see this model # on the B&D website so I'll presume it is no longer made. Another reason I want to get a second unit ... that's how much I enjoy the one I have!
I recommend this to individuals who like different cups of coffee - gone will be the waiting between first and second pots, or arguing over which coffee do you both drink, or its strength. What a terrific peace keeper!!

(More customer reviews)The unit does cut and grate, but you better have a catching container that wraps around the unit to catch the product as it comes shooting out. Your catching container will hold as much as what drops short on the counter, the exit spout is enclosed on only 3 sides, so a lot falls short of the catching container. Cleaning the inside of the cover presented a problem, crevices inside the cover catch cheese and soft products, you must use a long bristle brush or THIN FLAT toothpick to remove it. This unit is loud. Does B&D equate noise with power? I should have left this one on the store shelf, cause it quickly found its way into the recycle bin curbside. I would rate this less than 1 star.

(More customer reviews)As a chopper to use on a daily basis, this is unbeatable. The blades are much more substantial than on other products of this size. However, you have to be very careful with the plastic bowl. The center section that holds the blade has begun to break. Currently half of the circular holder (in the middle) is gone. Although it will still hold the blade, if it breaks any more, it probably won't. I'm going to have to find a replacement for the plastic bowl. October 18, 2005 update: Guess what? I contacted Black & Decker online, and they have a company that they refer you to that handles their replacement parts. In this case they are sending me a complimentary new 3 cup plastic bowl. I wish I could change my rating upward; this is real customer service. July 5, 2007 update: Since I received the replacement bowl, I have used this appliance constantly, that is, three to five times a week. I have had no problems with the center section of the replacement bowl. February 8, 2008 update: Note that when Amazon runs this item for $12.99, it is really a screaming deal.
