Chefmate 1 1/2 Cup Food Chopper Review

Chefmate 1 1/2 Cup Food Chopper
Average Reviews:

As its name claims, it is a chopper. I bought this to make some baby foods, but no matter how long I push the button, it won't purée anything.
If you want a chopper, this does a good job. But if you expect more, maybe you shouldn't buy it.

KitchenAid 5-Speed Custom Metallic Blenders Review

KitchenAid 5-Speed Custom Metallic Blenders
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned a lot of blenders and this one is very impressive. I was tempted to give it 4 stars as it is not the best blender I have ever owned. That distinction goes to the Vita-Mix which has a nuclear reactor for a base, sounds like a Harley and cost as much as a microwave but if you need a blender that can crush anything and make flour and HOT soup....well....but back to the KitchenAid.
First it looks great. As a home chef, having a sleek modern looking kitchen is important. Second it is easy to clean... I will never own a push button (i.e. old Oster-type) blender again. Nor one with a multi piece jar. One leak can and has ruined an evening or party, as you run to grab paper towel and dish clothes to control the margarita or soup that is running across your counter and down your cabinets. Then the fun of cleaning your blender nooks begin....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Now the really impressive part. I have owned a Waring for years. Everyone always raves about it and if you have a thin liquid, it works great. But for crushing ice and making smoothies, it just flat out sucks. So I sought out an ice crushing (margaritas), sealed jar (gravies/soups), lightweight, large capacity (parties), easy touch (easy to clean), piece of art. The KitchenAid is all those things and has a logic built in that controls the blade speed. It knows how well it is crushing the ice and modulates the motor to ensure an even snow like texture that is incredible. The same system is also built into the other modes, measuring resistance to step the motor up, then back it down to ensure smooth results.
This is my first KitchenAid product, but it will not be my last. BRAVO

Use it to make garlic hummus, fresh herb vinaigrette, pureed lentil soup, and zesty salsas, as well as a wide range of beverages, from strawberry milk shakes to margaritas with perfectly crushed ice. The blender's Clean Touch control panel offers five speed options, which include Stir, Chop, Mix, Puree, and Liquefy. It also offers Pulse Mode and an automatic Crush Ice setting. The unit's patented one-piece stainless-steel blade and Intelli-Speed electronic motor control work together to ensure fast, consistent blending and thorough results. A 56-ounce shatter-resistant blend-and-serve polycarbonate pitcher comes included, complete with a stay-put lid with an ingredient cup, a comfortable soft-grip handle, and a nondrip pour spout. The pitcher with its stainless-steel blade (no need to disassemble) cleans thoroughly in the dishwasher, and the blender's base, made of solid die-cast metal and heavy-duty polycarbonate, wipes clean with a damp cloth. Available in two metallic finishes, the blender measures 9 by 7-1/3 by 15-1/4 inches and carries a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty.

I have had this blender for 2 1/2 years now and it still works excellent. I have been able to make the creamiest smoothies with it. For example I can blend strawberries and blueberries with bananas so well that there are no longer any seeds or grainy texture present. I will definitely purchase this blender again if I need a new one in the future.

After about 20 uses, the plastic bottom cap broke. Unfortunately, it broke off when the blender was full of hot onion cream that it took me an hour to make. So I almost killed myself and had to clean the kitchen for half hour. Nice, huh? It's a pity because everything else seems high quality, engine, blades, glass cup etc.. Really a pity.

i got this as a gift expecting it to be banged up, or something off about it, since it was reconditioned. This item came with the manuals and was packaged as if brand new. I would not know it was anything but pristine. I threw my old bigger food processor away. This is a great item, chops very fast and sharp. whats really cool is how the blade flips over for grinding denser foods such as nuts or ice without dulling the sharp blade. Highly recommended.

Magimix Cuisine Systeme 5150 Review

Magimix Cuisine Systeme 5150
Average Reviews:

Few are the times when you feel good after spending >$500 on kitchen stuff, but this is one of those. Looks good, and performs even better. Fairly easy to clean, and even the little booklet that comes with it provides classic knowledge in the fine art of French cooking (you can tell it's a direct translation from French; like set oven to 355°F....).
Had it for 2 weeks now, and it feels like I can do things with more confidence compared to the various brands I have had before (name it, and I probably owned it). This is a "no BS" machine that does what it says, period! And quietly, I might add.
This together with my Le Creuset cookware are my favorites in the kitchen right now.
Sorry Amazon, but I ended up buying it from another vendor. Don't know why, really...

This processor is a waste of money. It worked for all of six months. The chute design was also annoying--it didn't work as intended, and once you lose the little plastic guard piece, it only serves to make a mess. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more on a processor that isn't being produced as cheaply as possible per Wal-Mart's requirements.

We purchased this item for ourselves at Christmas. The blender and small food processor seem to work fine. The blender, however, leaks from the bottom of the blender jar every time we have tried to make a smoothie or milkshake. It makes quite a mess in the blender base as well as on the kitchen counter. Disappointing since this is the main use of a blender in our home. The rubber ring seems fine. I will be contacting Cuisinart about this problem.

KitchenAid 5-Speed Blenders with Polycarbonate Jars Review

KitchenAid 5-Speed Blenders with Polycarbonate Jars
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been looking for a blender for a few weeks now. We have started making smoothies at home and burned up our old one. Our girls like the "Chocolate Elvis" recipe from the local smoothie place which contains peanutbutter, bananas, yogurt, ice, and milk. I guess this is really hard on blenders. I bought one at Target 2 weeks ago that had "700 watts peak power" on the box. It died in 2 days. The power spec on the bottom of the blender said 450 watts. I think that is false advertisement. I have seen this on 2 different blenders now.
I have been leery of buying any blender with the little plastic teeth couplers because of all the bad reviews here on Amazon. I also wanted to stay away from anything with only 450 watts.
I was in another store and saw this blender. It has a new design for where the blades couple with the motor. "Commercial quality couplers with 12 interlocking teeth....coated for quiet operation".
We have had it for a few days now and have made some pretty thick smoothies. So far, so good. No burning smell like the one that was immediately apparent with the Target blender. My youngest daughter complanied that her smoothie was "too smooth". I guess she got used to the chunks of ice that our past blenders have left.
Kitchenaid doesn't seem to advertise the actual power specs on their blenders. On the bottom of this one it says that it draws 6 amps. Which is about 720 watts or about 0.9 horsepower.
My only complaint so far is the soft start feature. The blade starts at a slower speed then quickly increases to the speed you chose. This process still throws everything up into the lid, which is what it should prevent. It works fine though as long as you have the lid on. It also works if you start with the slowest speed and work your way up.
Overall this blender seems to be well made and pretty well thought out. The cord storage on the bottom is a great feature. It has much bigger feet than the previous model. So far, I would highly recommend this blender for the person looking for a good blender in the under $200 range.
Added comments:
It is a year and about 300 smoothies later and we still have this blender. I would highly recommend it!!

Black & Decker FP2500S Wide-Mouth Food Processor-500 Watts, Stainless Steel Review

Black and Decker FP2500S Wide-Mouth Food Processor-500 Watts, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First I am not a professional cook nor do I strive to be. I assume that anyone reading reviews for a Black and Decker food processor are in the same boat. I just enjoy cooking and preparing healthy, and usually easy, meals for my family.
Out of the box I was pretty impressed with the unit. The base is solid and heavy and each piece, albeit most plastic, feel substantial as well. So without delay I will list the pros and cons I see with this unit:
PROS
- Looks good sitting on the counter, no reason to hide it (unless you ARE a professional chef).
- Every little nook and cranny that can get food in it is accessible through the dishwasher or hand washing.
- Safety feature of needing to lock the workbowl AND the wide-mouth attachment for the unit to operate is a nice feature for those of use with kids.
- 10-cup size is ample to prevent overloading
- Workbowl fits snug into base once locked and the teeth on the base have much less likelihood of deteriorating.
- Suction cups on base is nice for me. It could be a con for some who prefer an easily movable processor.
- Good warranty and customer service has been accessible and great thus far.
- Wide mouth setup actually works for me. You remove the wide-mouth feed chute, load in your large item (tomato, apple, orange) and then replace the wide-mouth chute and use it to guide the item down to be prepared. This helkps prevent overloading with large items if you could simply feed in one after the other.
CONS
- The surround on the base around the touch buttons for the controls is cheap and is already "buckling" and "bubbling". I am praying it stays this way and does not peel off.
- The main gear on the workbowl that attaches to the base's toothed gear is not customer replaceable. There is no part number and the chances that Fox (the people used by B&D for warranty replacement and repairs) understanding what you need are slim. Most likely will simply get another workbowl.
- Loud, VERY loud. Certain Cuisinart models are far quieter, but I usually am not trying to talk to someone when I am using a tool with sharp blades.
- Fan creates a VERY strong gust of wind that will blow away anything light on your counter (including flour which was nice).
As for my personal use of the machine, I do not trust the blades in the dishwasher just as I do not trust my Wusthof knives in there. I hand-wash each blade after use and dry it. This will help keep them sharper longer and will keep them looking new as well.
Overall I think this is a great food processor. There are a few concerns for long-term use such as the non-replaceable gear and the surround on the controls, but that is not enough to give lower than 4 stars and also prevents a perfect 5-star rating.

Just how powerful is the Power Pro Wide-Mouth Food Processor? So powerful, that we had to design special heavy-duty suction cup feet to keep it in place while it slices, chops, shreds, grates and purees whole apples, potatoes, cucumbers, onions, blocks of cheese or any other whole foods with ease. With a fierce, 500-watt motor and tons of torque working in concert under its sleek and sturdy exterior, this is one heavy-duty piece of machinery that performs as great as it looks.

Perfectly pretty for my turquoise kitchen! The processor works well for small batches of chopping, and cleans up easily. The plastic tab on the lid broke off the first time I used it so everyone be gentle with this item! It works without the tab and sending it back isn't cost effective. I got this mainly to do salsa and I love that it fits everything I need right in through the openings. It comes with 3 blades for different styles, cleans up amazingly easy by hand or is dishwasher safe. I love the suction cups on the bottom to keep it from sliding. I also love the capacity, it holds a lot of stuff so I don't have to stop, empty it and start up again. It's a little loud on medium and high speed, but I only use it for short times so it doesn't bother me. I've had this for a little over a month now and am very pleased.

I needed a food chopper badly, so I'm glad I made this purchase. It does a good job, it's incredibly cheap and the size is indeed very compact. However, I have to say, that even for a one-person household I find it a bit too small.Even an onion has to be chopped in halves, the whole onion would be too much for it. If I was to buy a new one I'd go for a bigger one.

Reduce prep time in the kitchen with this convenient 1-1/2-cup-capacity food chopper. The small but powerful unit works great for chopping or mincing vegetables, fruits, herbs, cheese, nuts, chocolate, and more. It basically accomplishes the same functions as a full-size food processor, but without having to haul out the big machine. The unit's pulse function sets the blade spinning and offers exceptional control over consistency, and its stainless-steel processing blade can be removed for thorough cleaning. Other highlights include a transparent work bowl, a stable base, and a modern look that nicely complements any kitchen decor. Ideal for a one- to two-person household, the compact food chopper measures approximately 8 by 5 by 4 inches.
