If you want a chopper, this does a good job. But if you expect more, maybe you shouldn't buy it.

(More customer reviews)i got this as a gift expecting it to be banged up, or something off about it, since it was reconditioned. This item came with the manuals and was packaged as if brand new. I would not know it was anything but pristine. I threw my old bigger food processor away. This is a great item, chops very fast and sharp. whats really cool is how the blade flips over for grinding denser foods such as nuts or ice without dulling the sharp blade. Highly recommended.

FreshChop Food Chopper Review

I bought this chopper to replace my B&D 2 speed that I had for 5 years. (the bottom of the container broke) I read good reviews on the Food Chopper and decided to purchase. The first time I used the product it turned my veggies into mush. I tried again on a slower speed and again soup. I tried small bursts of slow speed and still all squishy. I tried small bursts of fast and again mush. I tried different foods as well and it just didn't chop. I read the instructions, just in case operationn of a small chopper has changed in 20 years.
My B&D chopper would only turn the food into soup/mush if I made it that way by keeping the highest speed on for several minutes. It always chopped the food evenly too. Unfortunately, B&D doesn't make that model any more. I would not recommend this to anyone I know.
Unfortunately I waited to long to return the item (32 days) so I am stuck with the "soup-maker".

This little jewel creates perfectly chopped garlic and minced herbs. I plan to throw away my garlic press. Also it's low profile lets it fit into a very small space, yet it holds over 2 cups. The reason for a 4 star rating: Use caution if blending liquids as they tend to foam up and flow out under the blade/whisk and into the motor housing. This happened to me. After letting it dry out for a few days, it's working fine. And the hot chocolate was delicious, although I will use a larger blender next time! So be careful! This could happen with any food processor, large or small. This is a pleasure to use! Chop an onion in seconds, make bread crumbs instantly, many other uses. I recommend it!

The plastic tab on the lid broke off the first time I used it so everyone be gentle with this item! It works without the tab and sending it back isn't cost effective. I would prefer a large processor but have no space for one.

However, I have to say, that even for a one-person household I find it a bit too small.Even an onion has to be chopped in halves, the whole onion would be too much for it. If I was to buy a new one I'd go for a bigger one.

(More customer reviews)I wanted a small little chopper to make my own salsa..just a few cups at a time, and this one fills that bill okay. The one problem I have is it does not chop up the tomatoes completely. After running it PLENTY of times and dumping out the salsa, there are always BIG chunks of tomatoes unchopped in the mix. I end up putting those chunks BACK in the chopper and hitting them again. A minor little glitch,but slightly annoying. I have to experiment with putting less material in the chopper and see if that helps...but then I end up taking just as long and is equal trouble as rechopping the unchopped pieces. Also, it doesn't really "chop" up the food. It is more of a blender type consistency when its done.

I'm sure I should have read the description more clearly but I assumed that it would have a sturdy, heavy base and it is definitely light-weight. Not a big deal for a mini-processor but would have been a deal-killer for me if I'd ordered a full-size one.

So, on a whim, really, I decided to give the Kitchenaid 3-cup chopper a try. I own a number of Kitchenaid large appliances, and have always been satisfied. This food chopper is no exception, as it exceeds my expectations for handling my chopping drudgery. Be it onions, garlic, emulsifying dressing, making bread crumbs, chopping nuts, whatever.
This unit takes a very small amount of counter space, has a great look, stores its cord in the base, and its bowl and cover are dishwasher-safe.
This appliance is a nice time-saver, and that, in my opinion, makes it a great item.

(More customer reviews)I highly recommend the Cuisinart Mini-Prep. I've had one for 6 years and it is still running beautifully. For such a small unit it has a surprisingly powerful motor. It can chop or puree vegies, fruits, - even cooked beef, chicken, and fish. When I first bought it I used it mainly for chopping onions, garlic, herbs, etc., but then I began to discover the possibilities. Ofcourse, the portions you are able to prepare are small, but if you're alone or have a very small family, it's a great little machine. Also a breeze to clean (not like the large Cuisinart units). Only negative is that it is rather noisy, however, for this price it is a terrific value. I must add that I bought two other mini processors prior to this one (both by Black & Decker) and was thoroughly dissatisfied with them. The motors were not powerful at all and the blades were in a different position than Cuisinart Mini-Prep. They could not chop more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at a time or it would not run. Neither unit would puree anything, only coarse chopping was possible. If you're looking for a good mini processor the Cuisinart Mini-Prep is it!

This little bitty food processor can get the job done. I was suprised as I bought it to replace a much larger one. It will chop and grind amazingly and for that purpose alone I'm glad I bought it. However, for lighter foods it makes a bit of a mess as it will overprocess very easily. I wish that it had come with a blade for grating things. That would have been very handy.

(More customer reviews)We bought this item to replace an older, larger food processor from Hamilton Beach which died after many years of service. This little rascal is great! We're just cooking for two, so it's plenty big for most all of our needs. The secret seems to be to pulse the cutter using the "chop" button. (Just like the directions tell you to!) If you let it run, you'll turn your ingredients into a puree. (That's French for mush!) Of course, if that's what you're after, go for it. I've used it for onions for hot dogs, pickles for potato salad, jalapenos for salsa, black beans for soup, etc.
I used to always chop onions with a knife, now I just cut the onion into cubes, throw 'em into the Mini prep, jog the "chop" button a few times, and viola, chopped onions. Clean up is easy, too. The knife lifts out, and there's just the knife, the lid, and the main container to clean up.
It doesn't take up nearly as much precious counter space as my old food processor, either. Would definitely buy this item again!
