(More customer reviews)I just bought three cuisinart dlc-5 food processors: first one for myself and then later two as gifts. I wanted more flexibility in the range of foods I could process; and as a result click on the Amazon accessory link for a 3mm slicing disc. This disk did not fit my food process.
I returned it, but Amazon was asking me to pay the return freight, as it was "my fault". I disagreed, and am awaiting the final outcome.
Not withstanding the outcome, I looked closer at the other links in order to buy more disks, and I see some of the other accessory links are not much better. April 2004

The blender, however, leaks from the bottom of the blender jar every time we have tried to make a smoothie or milkshake. It makes quite a mess in the blender base as well as on the kitchen counter. Disappointing since this is the main use of a blender in our home. The rubber ring seems fine. I will be contacting Cuisinart about this problem.

(More customer reviews)I have the Bosch Compact Mixer. I had trouble getting this to connect to the mixer. I called Bosch customer service in CA and discovered how to attach this. You must put the cover on the processor and snap it in place just as if you were going to process food. This moves the plastic tab on the bottom out of the way so it will attach. Works great once you know the secret!

(More customer reviews)I bought this for myself for Christmas. Why this one? Honestly, I really needed a new one to replace the great $3 Braun I had gotten from a yard sale- the bowl was cracked and no replacement parts are available anymore. So $39 for a 10-cup, sure! WOW! Where should I start...
1. the bottom has suction cups; not helpful at all.
2. doesn't Black & Decker deal in power tools? Yeah, it was that loud!
3. The wide-mouth feature includes a regular sized chute but it doesn't come apart
4. where the chute meets the lid is a tiny area perfect for food to get into but it's so small the only thing I could use to get the food out was a knife so when cleaning it, you cant get into that area and remember the smaller chute that doesn't come apart? Well, can't clean that either
5. There is one blade for shredding and slicing. (One side for shredding- flip it over for slicing.) So even though you may be using the shredder, you also have to clean out the slicer.
In summary- I couldn't get it back in the box fast enough. Luckily, I didn't throw away my Braun, just in case...I'd rather have to cover the crack in my quiet, old Braun any day than use this food processor. A man definitely designed this, no question!

I have replaced the stem three times in ten years or so. I have replaced the bowl once, and one of the blades has broken twice. The motor has held up fine despite all the parts breaking along the way. I have given up paying premium prices to replace parts. I am looking for an alternative which will offer me as large a bowl as this.

Cuisinart CBT-500FP SmartPower Premier Duet Blender/Food Processor, Stainless Steel Review

First, the metal bands that secure the plastic handles to the glass pitcher catch the liquid when it is poured so gunk gets stuck between the band and the glass and stays there growing bacteria "forever"-it is NOT possible to clean this at all. No health inspector would allow this in a restaurant (by the way, I'm not a health freak-we don't even wipe the stove top monthly)! I thought it was a unique fault and I returned it only to find it still happens on the new one. Major design flaw.
Second, the blade is in a plastic housing and this cracked twice on us. My husband ONLY makes smoothies in this blender, not with ice but with mostly thawed frozen fruit, and he makes them very thin. We can't figure out what makes it break! Because this broke and we didn't know it, the blade didn't spin freely and the spinning device below it broke off as well.
Cuisenart is wonderful with customer service. The first time this happened they sent a blade with no questions asked. The second time they offered a $75 product credit if we return the blender and said they'd send the parts as well.
The third problem is the spout, if you can call it a spout. There's no way to pour the contents cleanly into a glass without making a mess unless you're some kind of a whiz at it. Just terrible spout design.
It's too bad: this is a very attractive blender. I won't get a new one with the credit, that's for sure. But do I go up to a $269 Kitchen Aid or down to a $29 Osterizer?!? Wish the Cuisenart had been worth it and I didn't have to decide.

(More customer reviews)I'll preface this by saying that I have cooked professionally for almost 15 years. Before ordering this massive processor, I checked out almost everything comparable. I am delighted with my selection. This processor is very powerful. If you have a large family or do a lot of entertaining, this one is for you. The work bowl is massive, and batters don't slop out. The motor can handle multiple batches of cookie dough. You can turn out cake batter in no time, and in big quantities. I went for a big processor as I have a large family. Several years ago I catered my daughter's wedding reception, and how I wish I had this processor at that time. Now it's easy to produce huge amounts of pesto, knead multiple recipes of bread dough, and slice tons of veggies. This product is a TOTAL WINNER!

(More customer reviews)Boy, am I glad I bought this processor. It is well designed and well made. You definitely get what you pay for.
The base unit is big (10" x 8" x 6" high) and heavy. But it is amazingly quiet. It has large rubber feet which prevent the unit from moving or vibrating on the counter. The motor has enough torque to mix or rip through anything dropped in it.
The work bowl is wider than the previous 9 cup model (7") which makes it very easy to work inside and remove the contents. Another nice touch is the bowl cover which fits over both the inside and outside rim of the work bowl to prevent spillage. The large food pusher is also a measuring cup. Many of the 12 cup accessories fit this processor, too.
The mini bowl accessory is useful because it easily drops into the large work bowl and then quickly chops small amounts of ingredients. The processor comes with the mini bowl & blade, dough blade, 2 mm slicing disk, 4 mm shredding disk and spatula. The booklet has 18 pages of well illustrated instructions (all English) and another 22 pages of recipes.
Final note: This item is securely packed in styrofoam. In addition, KitchenAid encloses the box inside a slightly larger shipping carton. This prevents the product and its box from being damaged during shipment from Amazon's warehouse - another nice touch.

Cuisinart ICE-25 Classic Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker Review

(More customer reviews)This design was given to me as a gift, replacing a Krups La Glaciere that had worked well for a few years before the coolant began leaking into the freezing chamber. In terms of freezing and mixing ability - the only real differences between ice cream makers at this low-end level - the Cuisinart works very well. In fact, it seems to hold its temperature longer than the Krups model, perhaps due to the extra bit of insulation afforded by "freezing chamber in bucket" design. Also, for those familiar with the Krups, the Cuisinart actually rotates the bucket rather than the dasher; odd at first, but it works fine, and allows for faster assembling of the component parts when you're starting the freezing process. The only (minor) complaint I have is that, if you are making a sizable batch, the ice cream frequently starts to pour over the top of the dasher as it expands, even if you follow the instructions for how high the freezing chamber should be filled. It doesn't spill out of the unit, however, and the freezing process doesn't seem to be significantly disturbed. In short - the Cuisinart is worth the buy, and will produce ice cream that's as good as your recipe allows.

(More customer reviews)I live in a small space and wanted a smaller food processor and a blender and this seemed to be a great solution. In principle it is a really good idea but the manufacturer should have included hearing protection. I use my earplugs when I use this machine. It's as loud as a skill saw. The blender design is such that there are always chunks in my smoothies. I can't make a full recipe of meatloaf in the processor.
I'm going to have my old Cusinart DLC-7 repaired and go back to it.
